Doris is a long-time motorist. Over the past year she has made the switch to an electric car based on the environmental benefits that they offer. She uses her car mostly for trip around town, but occasionally takes a trip to Dublin.

What is your current vehicle and what are your thoughts on it?
Opel E-Corsa – it is my first automatic, first electric car which I am still getting used to, but glad I made the change.

What do you consider to be the benefits of driving an Electric Car?
It helps me do my bit for the planet – cutting emissions.

What are the challenges of ownership?
I am still very anxious about being able to charge on a longer journey – I hear many stories about chargers not always being available.

Have you calculated any cost savings since making the switch?
It has been difficult to calculate due to COVID19 which has changed my travel plans, so any comparisons would be unreliable.

What advice would you offer to someone who is considering making the switch to electric?
Do it if you can afford it – I am really glad I did.

Is the existing public infrastructure sufficient to support existing EV drivers?
I really don’t know enough I’m afraid to make a comment.
